Intern (Youth Serving Organizations) | Nemours | Newark, DE
(NHPS), based in Newark, Delaware, works with families and communities
to help children grow up healthy. It is the newest division of Nemours,
one of the nation's largest pediatric health systems, operating the
Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and outpatient facilities
throughout the Delaware Valley and northern and central Florida. NHPS
expands Nemours' reach beyond clinical care to consider the health of
the whole child within his or her family and community. The goal is to
impact long-term changes in policies and practices that promote child
health and to leverage community strengths and resources to have the
greatest impact on the most children.
Duration: ****February - December, 2008 (flexible), 25-30 hours per
week****
The intern will work closely with the Youth Serving Organizations Team
to provide support to 2008 planned activities on increasing healthy
eating and physical activity (HEPA) in out of school time. The intern
will help determine what social marketing materials would be helpful to
partner organizations, develop needed materials, assist with planning
and implementing trainings, assist with survey development and
implementation, conduct research on policies and practices related to
HEPA in youth serving organizations, organize and summarize literature,
write and update team website content, and attend community events (some
travel may be required).
- Organize and summarize research on Healthy Eating/Physical Activity in
out of school time
- Develop and implement a literature review process for the Youth
Serving Organizations team
- Write copy for a webpage to be posted on the NHPS website
- Depending upon intern's area of expertise and university requirements,
intern and coordinator may develop one project (TBD) that meets both
intern and NHPS needs (e.g. product development, research, etc.).
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors required, Master's level preferred
*Other qualifications desired:
Ability to work independently and
multi-task, detail oriented, knowledge of healthy eating and/or physical
activity, experience working in afterschool or summer programming.
